Margaret was the oldest of 9 children born to Betsy and John Hrgreaves. She said she was born in Blackburn but the 1881 census shows Borwick. She worked in the cottonmill growing up in England. She immigrated to America in 1901 on the ship Commonwealth. Lived in Bear Lake valley and married "FG" Frederick Bateman in 1901 and had 6 sons.
