OBITUARY

Jonathan R. Andrew, son of Joseph and Sarah Curl Andrew, was born in Clinton County, Ohio, February 8, 1856 and passed away, after a lingering illness, at the home of his son Arthur, at Sugar City, Colorado, June 19, 1939, aged 88 years, four months and 12 days.

He was one of eleven children, having had five brothers and five sisters, all of whom, excepting one sister, have preceeded him in death.

On January 25, 1883, he was united in marriage with Olive Morgan, near Casey, Iowa. This loving, faithful companion, who walked with him for over 45 years, departed this life October 12, 1928. To this union were born five children, Melva Maxson of Pasadena, California, Orla G. Andrew and Lottie Nolte of Earlham, Arthur Andrew of Sugar City, Colorado, and Inez Hoskins of Pomona, California.

When a child he moved with his parents to Indiana, where he grew to manhood. When a young man he came to Iowa where most of his life was spent, except for a few years he lived in Kansas, Montana and Colorado.

Jonathan Andrew was a birthright member of Friends, and during his pilgrimage here, remained loyal to the Faith. As long as his health permitted he was a faithful attender at all of the services, especially enjoying the Bible School.

While his greatest interest were centered in his wife, children and home he was a true friend, always giving willingly of his time and means to his fellowman.

He leaves to mourn his passing his five children. 17 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and one sister, Isabelle Ballard, of Crescent City, California, besides many other relatives and friends.
