Nah, he had NO sense of humor whatsoever!
(He'd get a kick out of knowing this was in his memorial!)

David took months to gather all the pieces of this "colorful" getup and gleefully posed for this picture when he finally had them all. He chuckled over this til the end of his life (especially knowing of certain relatives' reactions to seeing it!).

David loved history and got a kick out of posing for a picture of his "new place in California." Don't know if there's enough room for him AND the saloon floozy, though!

Indulging in one of his favorite pastimes - digging through bins of rocks at a rock shop looking for that next great addition to his collection. After 40 or so years of buying and collecting, including many rock hunting trips where he found, dug, and collected them himself from all over the country, you can imagine why he had sheds full of them when he passed away!

Another one of David's jokes--posing for this picture with a "saloon floozy" giving him a peck on the cheek so he could lead family and friends to think he'd run off to live in the mountains with his "new girlfriend," even though he never even knew this lady's name.

He said that the gleeful look on his face was from thinking of the expression on a certain relative's face when that relative got the copy he sent, and that after it arrived, the relative refused to talk about it or even to acknowledge they ever got it, which David said meant they definitely did!

The lady's features have been obscured to protect her privacy. She was actually a reenactor playing the part of a Gold Rush era saloon girl at an historical celebration.

Bet he's still chuckling over this joke of his wherever he is now!

David said he took this picture to send to friends and family in colder places, just to rub it in a little (in good fun) that he got to enjoy flowers blooming in the winter.
