Levi was born as Levi Oliver Prevost. He was first married to Helen Besau on Oct 11, 1897, in St Anne's Church, Alpena, Alpena, MI. His second marriage was to Elizabeth Brown on Jan 27, 1904, also in St Anne's Church, Alpena, Alpena, MI.

The family stories are that when Levi moved to the Alpena area with his parents, Levi and his family changed their last name to Prevo due to the fact that there were so many Prevost's in the area. They hoped they would receive their mail more easily.
