Edwin was born Oct. 11, 1915, in Stoughton, Wisconsin, to Albert and Sophie (Fosdal) Julseth. Edwin farmed in and around Cooksville for 34 years and retired in 1965, to become the store keeper of Cooksville General Store. In 1975, he retired from the store business and worked at the Morning Side Nursing Home in Stoughton until 1993.
Upon another retirement, he went back to work once again for the Town of Porter Landfill, where he worked until just two weeks before his death. He lived at home and enjoyed gardening, fishing and had a "great game of cards" with his card club. Also known as "Cigar Eddie", he was an avid baseball and football fan and could name all the players from the Braves in the 1950's. His beautiful apple orchard, raspberry bushes and vegetable garden were shared abundantly with neighbors and friends.
Eddie never married, but claimed his ten nieces and nephews as his "Children". He is survived by: Judy (Julseth) Loy, Barbara (Alt) Brunner, Jerry Julseth, Michael Alt, Jeanne Julseth-Heinrich, Karen (Julseth) Fuelleman, John Julseth, Linda (Julseth) Ryan and Gene Martin. He is also survived by many great, and great-great nieces and nephews, whom he knew well. He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers and sisters: Arthur Julseth, Helen (Alt) Julseth, Thelma (Martin) Julseth and Norman Julseth. Also preceding him in death was one of his beloved nephews, Robert "Bob" Martin.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2011, at the Cooksville Lutheran Church, with Reverend Margo Martins officiating. Burial will follow in Cooksville Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday. Ward Funeral home, Evansville is assisting the family.
