Modena Magnin Parton passed away at her home on January 19, 2011 at the age of 82 years, 7 months. Born on June 19, 1928, Modena was the youngest of six daughters born to A.M. (Otto) and Oma Dillon Magnin.
She is survived by three sons: Larry and wife, Sharon of Clarksville, Tn; Randy and wife Toy of Choctaw, Ok; Bruce and wife Deborah of St. James; two daughters: Regina Thompson of Jefferson City, Mo ; and Denise Abernathy of St. James. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, relatives and friends.
Modena was a life long member of the St. James Christian Church. She retired from California Manufacturing after many years as a seamstress. She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, watching Survivor and Jeopardy. An expert trivia player, Modena was an asset to any team. Her favorite companion was her granddaughter Tara who was always her special helper.
Services
Modena will be laid to rest on Saturday, January 22, 2011. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James. Steve Barber will conduct the service which will be held at noon at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James. Pallbearers are: Larry, Randy and Bruce Parton, T.J. Abernathy, Dennis Green and Jeff Cantrell. Burial will be at the St. James Cemetery alongside her parents Otto and Oma Magnin. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Alternative Hospice 1749 Gilsinn Lane Fenton, Mo. 63026.
