Giovanni Gallo, 59, of 127 Bonnie Drive, Lakeland, died Friday at Community-General Hospital. Born in Italy, he lived in Syracuse 40 years. He retired as a machine operator after 37 years at Crouse-Hinds Co. He was a former communicant and usher at St. Peter's Church, where he volunteered at bingo and the Italian Festival. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Survivors: His wife, the former Dolores Ricci; two sons, Anthony and John Jr., both of Lakeland; two daughters, Alvira Carsten and Frances Santoferrara, both of Lakeland; three brothers, Gennaro of Albany, Michael of Syracuse and Alfonzo of Liverpool; five sisters, Madeline Bizzaro of Albany, Frances Clemente of Syracuse, Josephine Cioffe of Lakeland and Elvira Ferraro and Maria DiNatale, both of Minoa; eight grandchildren. Services: 8 a.m. Wednesday at Farone & Son Funeral Home and 9 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Burial, Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours, 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the funeral home, 1500 Park St., Syracuse.
