Revolutionary War Soldier

It is known that Lemuel married twice. He first married Sarah 'Jane' Rose, in 1784. Lemuel and Sarah had three children together: 2 males that are listed on the 1800 census, they are not listed on the 1810 census. The assumption is that they died as younger children. Lemuel and Sarah had a third son that lived well into adulthood, Alexander Flood Bolter. Shortly after Alexander's birth his mother died, most likely in Ohio, but possibly in Michigan.

The Bolter family moved from Ohio to Michigan shortly after or just before Sarah died (d. 1830, her death information is etched into s marker in St. Joseph, MI). In about 1838 Lemuel married a gal named Nancy Ann, their time together as a couple was brief. Records indicate that they had separated before Lemuel passed in 1840.

Nancy Ann sued Lemuel's son Alexander claiming her share of the estate. In the end she was apparently was awarded at least some of his estate. Alexander was ordered to pay her a widow's share; there is no record of what she percentage, land or goods that she received of Lemuel's estate.
