Mrs. CHARLES E. BORTELL
The funeral of Mrs. Gabrielle B. Bortell, 49, wife of Charles E. Bortell of 327 Safford St., Bennington, who died Monday evening at Putnam Memorial Hospital after a long illness, will be held Wednesday at 10 am at Sacred Heart Church, where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. A prayer service at 9:30 at Mahar and Son Funeral Home will precede the funeral Mass.
She was a native of Bennington, born June 19, 1924, a daughter of Wenceslas Boutin and the former Celestine Goudet. She received her education in the schools of this town, and was married to Mr. Bortell at Sacred Heart Church, of which she was a communicant.
She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Linda Moxley, Mrs. Pamela Schill and Marie B. Bortell, all of Bennington; two sons, Ralph W. and Edward C. Bortell, both also of Bennington; two grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Clarina Bellemare and Emma Boutin, both of Bennington, and Mrs. Lydia Delisle of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four brothers, Jules, Louis and Roland Boutin, all of Bennington, and Leon of Pownal; one aunt; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Entombment will be in Park Lawn Chapel Vault, with burial in the spring to be in that cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bennington Rescue Squad through the funeral home.
There are no calling hours.
