Mitchel E. Bumgardner, 85, the oldest resident of Cassville, died Friday, Jan. 3, 1992, in the Columbus County Hospital, Whiteville, N.C. Born Sept. 26,1906, hi Brady Township (Big Valley), Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late H. Edmond and
Lucy A. (Wilson) Bumgardner. He was married to the former Frances Grissinger on June 30, 1949. Surviving are six children: George E. Bumgardner and Robert P. Bumgardner, both of Southport, N.C.; Leroy Bumgardner, McConnellstown; Mary Bumgardner, Cassville; David F. Bumgardner, Duncansville; and Ruth Ann Blanchard, Chadboum, N.C.; and eight grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Veda Bowman, in the Huntingdon County Nursing Home, Huntingdon. Three brothers preceded him in death. Mr. Bumgardner was of the Protestant faith. He was a retired laborer from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Funeral services will be held at 2
p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at the Robert I. McClain Funeral Home, Cassville, with the Rev. John Leatherrhan officiating.
Interment will be in the Trough Creek Valley Baptist Cemetery, Calvin R.D. Friends may call at the funeral home this evening (Monday), from 7-9 p.m., and Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service..
