Victor Royce Bolon
Date of Birth: 11/26/1929
On March 7, 2010 Victor Royce Bolon passed away in Sequim Washington after a long battle with cancer. Victor Royce Bolon also known as "Vic" was born November 26, 1929, in Clarkston, Wa. to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bolon. The youngest child, he followed four sisters, Marcelle, Maxine, Barbara and Beverly.
The family moved from Clarkston to Endicott, then Oakesdale and settled in Connell, Wa. where Vic grew up. He led a very active life. Following his graduation from Connell high school he joined the Marines Officer Training, transferred to Navy for Flight training to become a pilot. Following his military service he attended college in Cheney and then Central Washington in Ellensburg, where he met his future wife Nancy Price. Vic and Nancy Price were married on July 28, 1956. Nancy, a college student, continued on to a teaching career. Vic obtained two undergraduate Degrees and a Master Degree from Central Washington University, as well as a Doctorate Degree in Education Psychology from Northern Colorado University. His teaching career included Psychology at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma and Director of Student Affairs before he taught psychology at Olympic College in Bremerton.
Vic and Nancy settled in Silverdale Wa. where they raised their family while running a small ranch in with Black Angus cattle and white Samoyed dogs, another one of Vic's great loves. Always on the go, he enjoyed hiking and mountain climbing. Vic retired from teaching in 1989. He continued with his hobby of raising cattle on the farm while waiting for Nancy's retirement. When Nancy retired in 1995 they moved to Sequim to truly retire, and travel together. Always busy, Vic was a Past National Director of the Oregon California trail Association. He researched, mapped and marked the Oregon Trail through the entire state of Oregon. He also was instrumental in planning the Sequim non-profit Cooperative Community of Clasen Cove.
He loved landscaping and gardening. He read constantly, and especially enjoyed history and genealogy. Vic loved to sing and was a member of the Straitmen Chorus and sang with the Sunbeam Jammers. He played all sports and especially enjoyed baseball. He continued playing softball until his middle 70's.
Vic and Nancy loved traveling, both in the states and abroad. For several years Vic and Nancy spent the winter months in El Centro., Calif., which included sightseeing trips to the surrounding area and into Mexico. They made many friends and were loved by all.
Vic enjoyed a full and active life. He loved his wife, family and friends, he helped many people through teaching and being a friend people could rely on. He is greatly missed by all.
We will be celebrating Vic's life at a memorial service on Saturday, March 20 at 2:00 at the Sequim Community Church. The service will be followed by a reception.
