Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” Ottumwa, Iowa, June 22, 1893:

Mrs. Caleb Miller Bedell was born in Fort Erie, Canada West, Dec. 9, 1857. Her parents moved to Ohio, while quite young, where she joined the Methodist Episcopal church at the age of 11 years, at Port Union, Butler county. She then came to Wapello county, Iowa, with her parents, where she married A.M. Bedell, December 14, 1876, and afterward settled six miles north of Lomoni [sic], in Decatur county, Ia., her home at the time of her death. Clara has always lived a faithful and consistent Christian life, from the time of her conversion up to the time of her death. She leaves a husband, two sons, aged 12 and 15 respectively and one daughter, aged 4 years, also a loving father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Webb, and brother Alfred, who is the chief of the fire department in this city, also other relatives and a host of kind of sympathetic friends who have attended her in her affliction. Her age was 35 years, 6 months and 7 days. Her death occurred June 16 at 4:45 a.m. She was buried at Decatur City, Ia., Sunday, June 18, 1893.

AT REST.
I.
Sweet be thy rest, O, worn and weary sufferer; Blest be thy sleep, for God hath closed thine eyes.
Earth’s noisy din shall never break thy slumbers; All thou dost hear is music of the skies.
II.
Rest, weary traveler, rest; thy journey’s ended– Life’s stormy paths and murmuring waves are past; Heaven’s golden sunbeams, Heaven’s brighter powers, And Heaven’s pure gladness all are thine at last.
