Wilma Faye Spencer, age 84, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2011 in Marshall Browning Hospital, Du Quoin, IL.
Faye was born on September 17, 1926 in Ridgeway, MO, a daughter to Robert and Myrtle (Hammack) Billups. On November 30, 1945, she married James C. Spencer. They divorced in 1970 and he preceded her in death in February 1997. In 1989, she met her special friend, Art Pontius, and she enjoyed the years she spent with him in Carson City, NV until he passed away on February 2007. Faye worked for many years at Walkers 5 & 10, Pinckneyville, IL, and MCA Records, Pinckneyville, IL for 21 years. Her greatest joy in life was caring for her family and she lived for her sons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Faye is survived by two sons, Dale (Vicki) Spencer of Du Quoin, IL and Ron (Marguerite) Spencer of Pinckneyville, IL; six grandchildren, Jamie (David) Tyner, Angie (Dan) Bruns, Jeff (Shonna) Spencer, Nancy (Dale) Fisk, Rhonda (Earl) Meyerhoff, and Brenda (Martin) Niedbalski; fourteen great-grandchildren, Kyle (Sarah) Tyner, Kaleb Tyner, Alex (Matt) Milam, Jonah, Cameron, and Blayke Spencer, Tim Bruns, Daron and Jared Meyerhoff, Trenton and Trevor Fisk, and Jason, Bailey, and Maggie Niedbalski; two great-great grandchildren, Lucy and Makenna Milam; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Jason Spencer; special friend, Art Pontius of Carson City, NV, and ex-husband, James C. Spencer.
Funeral services will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Joe Wagner officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, IL on Monday from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
