Lida Mildred Dorem, daughter of John and Margaret Anderson, was born west of Eagle Grove in Humboldt county on Sept. 18, 1876 and passed away en route to a hospital on June 1, 1957 at the age of 80 years 8 months and 14 days. She was the eldest of 12 children.
In her early years she attended country school and church in Humboldt County. On February 24, 1897 she was united in marriage to Peter Dorem. To this union was born a daughter, Mrs. Eva Brunson, now living in Washington, D.C. and a son John. The first 10 years of her married life she spent farming near Renwick and then moved to Eagle Grove in 1907 where she lived the rest of her days. Mr. and Mrs. Dorem celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1947. She was a member of the Congregational Church. Junietta Rebekah Lodge No. 185, and the Auxiliary of Encampment No. 12.
For the past several years Mrs. Dorem had been the matron of the City Restroom and was on duty when she was stricken.
She was preceded in death by her son, John in 1943, her husband in 1948, her sister, Mrs. Minnie Queary and her brother William Anderson.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Eva Brunson, a granddaughter, Mrs. Norman Lindhart of Jefferson, a grandson, Clifford Brunson of Lynchburg, VA., and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are five sisters, Mrs. Laura Rhiner and Mrs. Elmer Oldson of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Emma Bogard of Corwith, Mrs. Bert Lewison, Mrs. Frank Baesler of Humboldt, and four brothers.
