Elizabeth daughter of Mathew and Susana (Black) Armstrong.

The Carson City Gazette, Friday, May 4, 1900

Mrs. Elizabeth Jennings died at the home of her son in Ronald last Thursday, April 15, aged 91 years. She had been closely identified with the history and development of Ionia county for more than half a century. The funeral was held at North Plains Union Church Sunday and interment was made in North Plains cemetery. Mrs. Wm. Sessions of this place was Mrs. Jennings' daughter and John Jennings was a grandson of the deceased. Mrs. Sessions and Mr. and Mrs. Jennings attended the funeral.

On this farm of about 130 acres Matthew Armstrong and Susan Black, the latter a sister of Samuel Black, an early settler, and father of William and Jefferson Black, of Geneseo, conquered the hardships and privations that were the common lot of pioneers, and came out triumphant with a family of ten robust, healthy children, educated in an intelligent home circle and in the district Schools—the best educators in the world.

John was the oldest then. William, died at Adrian, Mich., in April, 1889; Mrs. Margaret Odell died at Quincy, Mich., in November, 1887; Hannah died in Livonia in 1839. Mrs. Elizabeth Jennings, of Ronald, Mich., Mrs. Maria Jennings of Ionia City, Mich., Matthew, James, Mrs. Julia Ann Whitney, and Thomas, the last four still citizens of Livonia, reputable and prosperous. What a hardy family. Only one: Hannah, died young, if 30 be called young. The six living representatives are the younger, all robust and healthy at an average age of 75 years. Where can be found another half-dozen brothers and sisters, all living, with no gap in their ranks, whose added ages cover 450 years?

I have submitted edits which are stated as so on the Certificate of Death which is posted. I have included below a "Brief" outline of her and her family. Directly below is a summary of mine I prepared from a history article dated April 2, 1886. You may view the hole article online at a great resource site, search for file (Boolean Selection)

PS The Armstrong property was next to the farm that I grew up on, hence, I am researching the genealogy of a farm, not a family, at least I started that way. :)

Summary

Elizabeth Armstrong Jennings's family were one of the early settlers of Livonia, Livingston County New York.
