Son of the late Albert and Mary Vreeland Christmann, he was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a past president of the Pompton Plains Rotary Club. He was the former owner of Van Dorsten Company in Pompton Plains, NJ. He was survived by his wife, Rose Chapman Christmann; seven children; 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; sister, Hazel Meyer; and an extended family of relatives. His funeral was held on Janaury 21, 2008.
