FORT WORTH - Mrs. Geraldine "Geri" Apperson-Nichols, 74, a retired secretary for the U.S. government and a community volunteer, died of a brain tumor Friday at home.

Graveside service: 2 p.m. Monday in Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth.

Conducted by Larry Grubb of First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth.

Mrs. Apperson-Nichols was born in Weatherford and moved to Fort Worth in 1937. She attended Texas Christian University.

She retired from the Soil Conservation Service.

She was a volunteer at All Saints Cityview and All Saints Episcopal.

She had also done volunteer work with Primetimers, Ride Share, Widowed Persons Service, SCS Alumni Club, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, the Area Agency for the Aging and many other organizations.

She was a member of the Twosome Class and was a greeter for First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Berry Apperson, in 1976.

Memorials: charity of choice.

Survivors: Husband, Raymond Nichols of Fort Worth; two daughters, Dr. Gail M. Kilman of Fort Worth and Anita McDonald of Trophy Club; two granddaughters, Alison Kilman and Amanda McDonald; and two grandsons, Rob McDonald and Andy McDonald.
