On January 7, 1970, one of God's greatest children was born unto Mrs. Myrtle Pearson and the late Hamp Harper, Sr., in Gulfport, Mississippi. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with Mount Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. William J. Harper. She remained devoted to her faith until her death.

She later met the love of her life, Mr. Charles Henry Holiday, Sr. To this union were born three wonderful children, Desmond Trent Pearson, Summer Michelle Pearson, and Ebony Holiday.

Gwendolyn sadly passed away on June 23, 2008, at the age of thirty-eight.

Gwendolyn will always live in the hearts of many through the precious memories that she left here on earth. God has now seen fit to call from work to rest Gwendolyn; He knows what his strength and fortitude will help us to make it through each day without our dear Gwendolyn.

For many years Gwendolyn worked as a dedicated employee of Allstate Insurance and she also served Gulfport's Head Start Program for many years.

She was preceded in death by her father, Hamp Harper, Sr.; a sister, Joycelyn Marie Dedeaux; two brothers, Frederick Douglas Harper and Danny Ray Kendrick; and godmother, Willimenia Kendrick.

Gwendolyn leaves to cherish her life a loving husband, Mr. Charles Henry Holiday, Sr.; two sons, Desmond Pearson, III, and Charles Henry Holiday, Jr.; two daughters, Summer Pearson and Ebony Holiday all of Jacksonville, Florida; a grandson, Kevon Pearson; ten sisters, Romona Williams, Rennetta Green (Thomas), Tracy Patterson, Felicia R. Harper, Tammy Briggs (Johnny), Cassandra Walton (Willie), Erica Woods (Arthur), Alicia Netterville (Jackie), Phyllis K. Guy and Vera M. Kendrick; nine brothers, Dwight Harper (JoAnn), Johnny Harper (Mattie), Madison Harper (Jean), Noland Harper (Pam), Dr. Oswago Harper (Dr. Tamara), Johnny Ray Harper, Clifton Delaney Kendrick, William Edward Thompson and Fredrick Douglas Kendrick; a mother-in-law, Gracy Holiday; a sister-in-law, Angela Stoves; three brothers-in-law, Anthony Holiday, Demetrious Holiday and William Holiday; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces nephews, other relatives, and friends.
