Myrtle Pearson was born June 5, 1944 to the union of the late Willie D. and Daisy Olive Pearson. She was the second oldest of seven children, four of which preceded her in death. She grew up on Deovolente, a rural area of Belzoni, MS, where she was baptized and became a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, pastored by the late Rev. R.S. Scott. She attended McNair High School in
Belzoni, MS. She later moved to Gulfport, where she found work as a cook and kitchen aid at the Broadwater Beach Hotel. She has struggled with poor health for more than thirty years. In the Mid 70's she moved to Long Beach and became a member of Greater Love Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor William Harper.

She departed this life on Saturday, January 7, 2012. She was the proud mother of three daughters, two of which preceded her in death, Joyce Marie Dedeuaux and Gwendolyn Faye Holiday.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Ramona Williams, a brother, Walter B. Pearson (Ada) of Stockton, CA; a sister, Odessa Pearson Slater of Chicago, IL; a brother-in-law, Thomas Williams of Miami, FL; ten grandchildren, ten great grand children, and one special friend and care giver, Moses Irving, seven uncles, Melvin Olive, being her favorite and dearest, four aunts, Velma Williams, Veoria Smith, more like a sister because they grew up together and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
