Newton was born Sept. 1, 1923, in Friesland, Wis., to Charles and Katie (Westra) De Young. He was united in marriage on Nov. 11, 1949, to Jessie Smit. Newton proudly worked his entire career as a carpenter in the family business, DeYoung Brothers, and was a longtime member of First Reformed Church of Friesland. He was an avid enthusiast working with steam engines, building small engines and attending many shows.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jessie DeYoung, Friesland; son, Arvin DeYoung, Sun Prairie; daughter, Dorene Schrader, Milwaukee; brother, Arthur (Delores) DeYoung, Friesland; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jeanette and Clarence Derksen, Waupun, Dorothy and David Lemmenes, Waupun, Frieda and Wyman Van de Zande, Waupun, Hilda and Donald DeVries, Randolph, and Ann Hollander, Pardeeville; three granddaughters and four great-grandchildren; special friends, Bob and Louise Berg, Hustisford; many nieces, nephews, other near relatives and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jerry DeVries; and brothers Bill, Chester and John.
