Lola A. Baker, 97 years of age, of Beatrice, formerly of Wymore passed away at the Beatrice Manor Care Center Monday afternoon, June 27, 2011. She was born on December 9, 1913 in Smith County, KS. to Charles and Rosa (Gardner) Buck. Lola and John Baker were married on October 8, 1940 in Seward, NE. and lived in the Wymore and Blue Springs area until moving to Beatrice in 2000. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Wymore and had been the Secretary/Treasurer for the Come Join Us group and of the Esther Circle of the church, and was a former member of the Quilters Guild. Lola was an avid reader and enjoyed quilting, playing cards, crocheting, sewing, making pillow case dolls, cooking and baking, and enjoyed daily devotions and writing in her diary.

Survivors include her daughter Carol Scott and husband Clayton of Beatrice; granddaughter Kelle Scott of Omaha; grandson Jeffrey Scott and wife Bonnie of Lincoln; 1 great granddaughter Taylor Anne Scott of Lincoln. Lola was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Rosa (Gardner) Buck; husband John Baker (2005); sisters Pearl Buck Bernard and Florence Buck Baker, and brother Lee Buck.
