Mrs. Millie W. Barlowe, 67, of Nebo, died Friday, June 27, 1975 in an Asheville hospital after a period of declining health.
A native of Burke County, she had lived most of her life in McDowell County and was a daughter of the late Nemore and Katie Williams and widow of Oren James Barlowe who died June 21, 1971. She was a former employee of the Western Carolina Center in Morganton in the Foster Grandparents Program.
Surviving are five sons, Omer and Amberse Barlowe of Nebo, Ercel Barlowe of Bybee, Tenn., Frank H. Barlowe of Hickory and Lawrence Barlowe of Greensboro; three daughters, Mrs. Goldie Condrey of Asheville, Mrs. Edith Hollifield of Marion and Mrs. Frances Dillingham of Swannanoa; three brothers, Elbert, Cecil and Paul Williams of Marion; two sisters, Mrs. Rilda Mason of Morganton and Mrs. Bertha Biggerstaff of Nebo; 22 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 1975 at Nebo First Baptist Church. The Rev. Cecil Lovelace officiated. Burial was in McDowell Memorial Park. Grandsons were pallbearers.
