Mrs. Elizabeth Deems Hawkins, aged 87 years, wife of Joseph Hawkins, died yesterday at 5:36 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ada Beall, of Beallsville. She was born near Clover Hill September 15, 1841, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Mark Deems.
Early in her girlhood she joined the Clover Hill M.E. church, retaining the membership throughout her life. she was twice married. Her first husband was the late Thomas Hill, of Clover Hill. September 11, 1873, she was united in marriage with Joseph Hawkins of Beallsville who survives, together with the daughter, Mrs. Ada Beall, with whom she made her home. another daughter, Mrs. Maude Scott died May 12, 1910. There are 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One brother, Samuel Deems, is living at Steele City, Nebraska.
