U.S. Congressman. Born the grandson of U.S. Revolutionary War General, William Lee Davidson, he studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced the practice of law in Greensburg, Louisiana. He served as register of the United States land office and was a member of the Louisiana State House of Representatives, (1833-46). In 1855, he was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-fourth, Thirty-fifth and Thirty-sixth Congresses, serving until 1861. After leaving Congress, he served again in the Louisiana State House of Representatives, (1874-78, 80, 83) and practiced law until his death at age 78.
