M. Foehr, retired stock raiser, cattle raiser and farmer of the Olney area, celebrated his 80th birthday in 1950 at his home in New Braunfels.

He came to Young County from Bosque County in 1900, Mr. and Mrs. Foehr settled west of Olney on the Spring Creek road and lived there until his retirement in December 1934 when the family moved to New Braunfels.

He and Mrs. Foehr celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1948 in December. All of their children were at home to celebrate.

One of the highlights of the year for the elderly couple was returning to Olney each summer for a visit with relatives and their many friends here. He died on Christmas Day at his home in New Braunfels

Graveside services wer held at the Comal Cemetery in New Braunfels with Rev. David Bulgarin of Blanco officiating.

He married Miss Emma Braune in 1897 at Lockhart, Texas.

They had four daughters - Misses Alma and Wanda Foehr of New Braunfels and Mrs. Alfred F. Johle and Mrs. A.F. Ickert, both of Olney; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Services for Mathias Gottlieb Foehr, 84, former Young County resident were held at the Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home at New Braunsfels.

A resident of Young County for 24 years, he moved to New Braunfels.
