Dale M."Dick" Chearney, 73 of Donegal, died Thursday, June 5, 2003 in Westmoreland Regional Hospital,.Greensburg.
He was born April 10,1930 in Acme a son of the late Rudolph and Beulah Snyder Chearney.
Dick was a life long resident of the Donegal area. He worked as a Diesel Mechanic for Wilson Trucking and later worked for Potoka's Service in Mt.Pleasant and retired from there in 1988. He was a Veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Mt.Pleasant American Legion. Dick was a longtime member of the Brown Cemetery Board and was presently serving as it's president. He enjoyed wood working and gardening. Dick was a member of the Valley Brethren Church in Jones Mills.
Dick is survived by his loving wife Shirley A. Monticue Chearney with whom he would have celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary on July 21,2003, a daughter Karen Winterhalter and her husband Regis of Donegal, a son Robbie Chearney of Donegal, and a step son Randy Pritts and his wife Awanda of Scottdale, 4 grandchildren Hallie and Christopher Pritts, and Dustin and Shannon Winterhalter, 3 brothers Homer Chearney of Acme, George Chearney and his wife Wilda of Acme, and Herbert Chearney and his wife Donna of Mt.Pleasant, and 2 sisters Phyllis M. Mentzer and her husband Pete of Purcellville MD., and Katherine Jones and her husband James of Pawley Island SC.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother Edward Chearney and a sister Velma E. Ash.
Family and friends will be received in the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home Inc., route 711 Melcroft, Sat. from 7-9 PM and Sun. from 12 Noon - 4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held Mon. at 11:00 AM, in the funeral home, with Pastor William Yoder officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in the Brown Cemetery.
