A self-employed businessman, Mr. Ross was the owner of The Frosty in Woodsboro, Texas, for 20 years. Upon retirement in 1973, he returned to Grapevine, Ark., where he enjoyed farming and ranching. He also worked several years as a painting contractor. Mr. Ross attended Pine Ridge Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Grapevine.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Elswick Ross; two brothers, Robert and Oliver Ross; four sisters, Jamie Ashcraft, Julie Taylor, Flossie Lowman, and Fannie Easley.
He is survived by a son, John "Buddy" Ross, of New Braunfels, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Larry Lyles of McAllen, Texas, Darlene and Joe Bradshaw of Hot Springs; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. He will be remembered as a caring, kind, compassionate man who never met a stranger. His smile, laughter, and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.
