Rev. Martel M. Fennig, 77, of Berne, a retired missionary, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, in Adams County.
The Adams County native retired after more than 40 years of service and had served Africa Inland Mission in Kenya, East Africa. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and member of First Missionary Church.
Surviving are his wife, Anna J.; a son, Chuck of Dallas; daughters LeAnne Johnson of Lafayette, Barbara Fennig of Fort Wayne and Sue Skiendziel of Hillsdale, Mich.; brothers Ernest of Indianapolis, Leon of Camarillo, Calif., and Rev. Brice of Coatesville; a sister, Corene Steury of Berne; and eight
grandchildren. A son, Joseph N., died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003.
Services for both Rev. Martel M. and Joseph N. are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Mennonite Church, Berne. Calling is from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, Berne. Private burial will be at MRE Cemetery, Berne. Memorials are to the Africa Inland Mission.
