Alexander Wood was the son of Henry Wood and Mary Catherine Earls Wood. He was born in South Pittsburgh, Marion County, Tennessee. He married Alice Marilca Zuith Pruitt (or Pratt?) in Montgomery County, Arkansas. Their children were Lyda LaPatra Wood Cross (1886-1931); Lavan Wood (Jan, 1885-Aug 18, 1885); Oscar Benton Wood (1888-1964); John Bell Wood (1890-1965) and Alexander Wood (1899-1969), Addie Ethel Wood Pike (1894-1976), Alma Zela Wood Summitt 1896-1975), Mary Catherine Wood Tucker (1899-?), Margaurite Manday Wood Tucker (1901-1968).

Alex and Alice came to Texas before 1895 to Brazos, Palo Pinto County. About 1900 they lived in Montgomery County, Arkansas. By 1903 they were living near Silver Creek, Parker County, Texas. At some time after the 1910 census, the family moved back to Montgomery County, Arkansas where Henry died.
