Services for Josephine Pearl Pennington, 94, Hawkins, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Broad Street Church of Christ, Mineola.

Burial will be in Bourland Cemetery, Keller, under direction of Beaty Funeral Home, Mineola.

Ms. Pennington died June 16, 2011.

She was born May 22, 1917, in Keller to the late Joseph and Mary Catherine Creecy. She was preceded in death by husbands, Ernest Courtney and Earl Pennington and daughter, Barbara Spears.

Survivors include daughter, Carol McCullough and husband Burton; son-in-law, Jimmy Spears; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Josephine Pearl Pennington, age 94, died Thursday, June 16, 2011 in Tyler, Texas. She was born on Thursday, May 22, 1917 in Keller, Texas to the late Joseph and Mary Catherine Creecy. She was a retired seamstress who worked for the Lord. She traveled through out the United States using her time to meet new people, encourage them and often they became her family away from home. She continued to correspond with many for years and years. She participated in the World Bible School Correspondence courses and was an avid letter writer. She was an aunt that encouraged nieces and nephews, a grandma and a great-grandma. She made children feel special oft times hearing the phrase, "Miss Pennington, can you come out and play?"
She is preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Ernest F. Courtney and Earl Pennington; and a daughter, Barbara J. Spears.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol McCullough and husband Burton; a brother, John Creecy and wife Annie; three sisters, Nora Carlisle and husband Shorty, Bert Courtney and husband Conley, and Nonie Branam and husband J. W.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and eight great great-grandchildren.
