Dora Ethel Caster, of Irving, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2008. She was born December 24, 1911 in Kaufman to Joseph Henry Creecy and Mary Catherine "Kate" Haley. She graduated from Keller High School in 1929. After graduating, she moved in to care for her great uncle, a civil war veteran. While living with her uncle, Dora was courted by Martin Caster and was married on January 24, 1934, Martin's 30th birthday. This was during the depression, so they lived with his mother Harriet Elizabeth Caster for the first couple of years of marriage. They settled on Shady Grove Rd. in Irving and raised their 5 boys. When the boys grew up and started families, Dora and Martin were adored by their grandkids. After Martin's death in 1972, Dora moved to her current home on Mt. Vernon Dr. and continued to live in Irving until her death. Dora lived a Christian life and was a wonderful, loving, and caring mother and grandmother. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Martin Caster, sons Roy, Claud, and Lloyd Ray, twin sister Nora, and sisters Mae and Burt, brother John, and grandson Danny; survivors include sons James Caster and wife Ruth of Blountsville, AL, and Ben Caster and wife Alice of Grand Prairie; sister Jo Pennington of Hawkins; grandchildren Kenneth, Judy, Cathy, Rick, Kim, Tammie, Tonja, James, Martha, Shelley, Paula, Pam "Faith", Jim, Crystal, and Jason; 35 great grandchildren; and 18 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 12, 2008 at S. MacArthur Church of Christ, 1401 S. MacArthur Blvd. in Irving with Tim Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at Sowers Cemetery in Irving. Visitation: 6-8 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to local chapters of ALS or Alzheimer's Foundation
