Suggested edit: “Claron LaVerne Koontz, 79, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away November 28, 2009 surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with diabetes and a heart condition. Claron LaVerne was born February 25, 1930 in Garnett, Kansas to Hillery and Yvonne Dart Koontz. He grew up in Garnett graduating in 1958 from the University of Kansas with a Civil Engineering Degree. Before being employed by the Army Corp of Engineers for 30 years, he worked for Truman Schlump Engineering Consultants. He served in the US Airforce for four years as a Staff Sergeant. He was united in marriage January 2nd 1952 to Mary Maxine Smith in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. He is survived by his wife Mary Maxine Koontz, his sons, Michael and Pam Koontz of Overland Park, Kansas, Stephen and Janie Koontz of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Robert and Sandy Koontz, of Tonganoxie, Kansas, and Mark and Karen Koontz, of Basehor, Kansas; and eleven grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Memorial donations in memory of Claron may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of his granddaughter or St. Michael the Arch Angel Catholic Church, 14201 Nall Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas 66223.”
