Mrs Mary B Smeltzer, 80, died Thursday afternoon at Sidney, Ind, where she went a week ago to visit her
son-in-law and daughter, Mr and Mrs Roy Myers. She suffered a stroke of paralysis Sunday morning, and the second one on Wednesday.

The daughter of Mr and Mrs James Neely, Mrs Smeltzer was born in Ashland, Ohio, on November 2, 1859. She was married to Michael Smeltzer, who died 38 years ago. They lived in Wakarusa and vicinity all their married life, except for one year which was spent in Manchester, Tenn. Since 1914 Mrs. Smeltzer had lived with her children.

She leaves one son, Lloyd, of Pennville, Ind; four daughters, Mrs Nettie Longfield and Mrs Laura Fisher if near Nappanee; Mrs Beulah Myters of Sidney and Mrs Lillie Jackson of four miles north of town; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs Laura Liesh, of Lakewood, Ohio; a half-brother, Henry Neely of Elkhart, and a half-sister, Mrs Ralph Conine, of Ohio. A son, Arthur, died 39 years ago at the age of 19.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, with a prayer service at 2:00 at the home of Mr and Mrs Ben Fisher, and a service at 2:30 at the First Christian church of Wakarusa, where she was a member. The Rev Gordon Kemble officiated. Burial was at the North Union cemetery, a mile south and a mile west town.
