Born in Locke township, near Wakarusa, Mrs Mitchell was a daughter of David and Delilah (Hemminger) Copenhaver. Her early life was spent in Indiana prior to going to Mendon to reside.
She was married to Joseph Mitchell who preceded her in death in
1917.
Miss Mitchell was a member of the Mendon Methodist Church and of the Ladies Aide of that church. She had also been an active member of the Mendon Grange and Maccabees.
Surviving are eight children, 38 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Ira Copenhaver of South Bend.
Services were Tuesday at 1 pm at the Olney Service Home in Mondon followed by rites at the Wakarusa Methodist Church in Wakarusa, with the Rev. Herbert R Strong of the Mendon Methodist church officiated. Burial made in North Union cemetery.
