J. Arthur Markin, 75, 1204 E. Fuson Road, died Thursday morning in his home after a long illness. He was born in Harrison Township, attended Harrison Township and Royerton schools and graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1930. Mr. Markin was employed at DeSoto Elevator Co. before his retirement. Earlier he had worked at Owens-Illinois and also had been a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of Industry United Methodist Church, Albany Senior Citizens and Moose Lodge 225, Hartford City. He was a former member of Eagles Lodge 231, Muncie. Surviving are his wife, Marjorie Heaton Markin; three sons, Wayen Markin, Brooksville, Fla., Hugh Markin, Charlottesville, Va., and David Markin, Jeffersonville; two sisters, Thelma Cummins, Newbury Park, Calif., Iva Lee (Mrs. Ralph) Delclef, Onxard, Calif., two brothers, Dee Markin, Upland, and Charles Markin, Pensacola, Fla; eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 10 am Monday in Meeks Mortuary, with Rev. O. Gene Smith and Harold Frederick officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory. Calling hours at the mortuary are 2-6 pm Sunday and before services Monday. Memorials may be sent to Delaware County Cancer Society, Special Services.
