Charles Darwin Markin Sr., 84, a native of Delaware County, Ind., and a resident of Monroeville, died Tuesday, June 2, 2009.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. He retired from NAS Pensacola Civil Service. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 33, Pensacola, Fla., for 57 years.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine L. Markin of Monroeville; daughter, Fay (John) Nelson of Excel; son, Charles D. Markin Jr. of Pensacola, Fla.; three grandchildren, Jonathan (Carol) Nelson, Jamerson Nelson and Joseph (Candice) Nelson; five great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services and visitation were held Thursday, June 4 from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Foley, with the Rev. Greg Wood officiating. Interment followed at Gilley Cemetery in Lillian.
Arrangements are by Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., Foley.
