Mrs. Gurney Hubbard
Mrs. Emma (Bates) Hubbard, 70, wife of Gurney S. Hubbard, died of complications at 1:52 Friday afternoon at their home on Crumhorn mountain in the town of Maryland. She had been in failing health the past five years.
Mrs. Hubbard was born in Oneonta November 7, 1872, daughter of Alfred and Caroline (Anderson) Bates. She and Mr. Hubbard were married at meredith December 28, 1892, and their married life of nearly 50 years was spent on their farm in the town of Maryland.
Surviving are: Mr. Hubbard; two sons, E.A. Hubbard of 96 chestnut and Scott T. Hubbard of 94 Center; a daughter, Miss Ruth Hubbard of Sidney; two sisters, Mrs. Julia Mattice of Delhi and Miss lucinda bates of So. Columbia; three grandsons, Paul Hubbard of Flushing, L.I., Gerald E. nd Erwin S. Hubbard of oneonta; and a ninece, Mrs. Benjamin Sprague of Delhi. Many friends will extend sympathy.
Last rites were held Monday, a prayer at the home at 1:30 being followed at 2 by the funeral in the Maryland Christian church, of which the deceased was a devoted member. The Rev. i.A. Dykeman of Worcester officiated, assisted by the Rev. J. Harnill of Maryland. Burial was in McKown cemetery, Maryland.
