The Gazette,
December 22, 1921:

George W. Moore, son of James and Lucinda Moore, was born in Patrick county, Va., Aug. 25, 1874, departed this life Dec. 11, 1921.

He was united in marriage to Iva Caylor, April 12, 1903. For several years he conducted a general merchandise business in Maplewood in the building formerly occupied by his father. He and his brother, A. H. Moore, assisted the father in establishing this business.

A little more than a year ago his health became impaired and on Jan. 10, 1920, he and his wife went to Phoenix, Ariz., thinking that the climate there would give him relief, but to no avail.

He returned to Danville, Ind., to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Noble Hughes, just five weeks before his death. It had been his prayer during the journey home to be spared to reach home and meet all his friends, which he enjoyed so much.

George, as he was known by all, was a member of the Christian church. His long siege of sickness was endured with remarkable patience. He never became embittered over his condition. He had hoped to have time to prepare well for eternity, and through the Providence of God, this was granted. During the last few weeks of his illness he frequently talked of the future and the nearer he reached the end of time, the nearer and dearer his heavenly home appeared to him, and he often admonished those who visited him to prepare for death. He enjoyed the 23rd Psalm and remarked of its wonderful comfort to him. Those who were privileged to be near in those hours will never forget the benediction that he bestowed upon them.

In his going he leaves a wife, one daughter, father, one brother and two sisters to mourn their loss.

Brief services were conducted at the home by Rev. Crystal and Rev. H. O. Bratton. The funeral was conducted at the Maplewood church at 2:00 p.m., Dec. 13, by Rev. Dugan, assisted by Rev. H. O. Bratton. Burial was at the K. of P. cemetery at Lizton.
