Obituary
Duane R. Gregg, 81, of Homer, died Wednesday, August 10, 2005, at Battle Creek Health System.
Mr. Gregg was born December 10, 1923, in Clarendon, to Bert and Lillian (Ballentine) Gregg. He married Shirley Holmes March 15, 1947. She survives.
Mr. Gregg served in the U.S. Army during World War II, taking part in many battles, including the Battle of the Bulge. He was director of public works for the Village of Homer until he retired in 1986. He served with the Homer Fire Department for 37 years, and was on the village council for many years.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Homer, VFW Post 9411 and the Moose Lodge.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Karen (Paul) Kujala of Traverse City; two brothers, Robert Gregg of St. Ignace and Donald Gregg of Battle Creek; four grandchildren, Nick Kujala of Royal Oak, Erik Kujala of Traverse City, Kristen Nielson of Traverse City and Jason Gregg of Largo, Florida; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Kent Gregg.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 13, at First Presbyterian Church in Homer, with the Rev. Maggie Jorgensen officiating. Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery in Homer.
Funeral arrangements were handled by the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home in Albion.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Homer Fire Department and First Presbyterian Church of Homer.
