Funeral rites for Mrs. Benjamin C. Bowman, prominent Muncie woman who died Tuesday night, will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Meeks mortuary. The Reverend L.W. Gishler will be in charge of the services. Private burial will follow in the family plot of the Beech Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Bowman, a lifelong resident of Delaware County, had resided with her daughter, Mrs. Lester Janney, 704 Riverside Drive, at whose home she died. She was the daughter of Jacob and Rhoda Perdieu Heath, pioneer county residents, and was the last surviving member of the family.

She attended Muncie public schools and Danville Normal College and had taught school in Chesterfield, Selma, and Muncie before her marriage. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving besides Mrs. Janney are another daughter, Mrs. Howard Meeker of Indianapolis; two sons, Fred H. of Evanston, Ill., and Ralph G. of Valparaiso; three granddaughters, Mrs. Thorald Sterrett of Champaign, Ill., Miss Catherine Janney of New Castle and Mrs. Charles Martin of Indianapolis, and four grandsons, Heath Bowman of Santiago, Chile, William T. Janney of Indiana University, Benjamin B. Janney of Pasadena, Calif., and Howard Meeker, Jr., of Purdue University, and a great-grandchild, Catherine Bowman Sterrett.
