Oscar's parents were Mindard D.Shears and Marinda E. Hammon/Hammond. He married his third wife Celia "Edna" Farbrother on 24 Apr 1909, Plainwell, Allegan Co., MI. (His parents and this wife are also buried at Mountain Home Cemetery.) Their children were Kenneth Henry Shears, Francis "Frances" Mildred Shears and Mary Emma Shears. (His first and second wife were Sarah Hunt and Maggie Winters)
