Rachel C. Maes, 76, of Kearny, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2010, in Mesa. Rachel was born June 11, 1933 in Litchfield to Ramon M. and Lily Sotelo Camacho. She was a devout member of the Infant Jesus of Prague Parish of the Catholic Church.

A homemaker, Rachel was a loving and dedicated mother, and grandmother, who loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed watching their games, as they participated in various sports activities. She was also an avid Diamondback fan.

Survivors include her husband, Antonio U. Maes of Kearny; her son, Ramon (Virginia) Maes of Kearny; daughters, Gloria (David) Herrera of Kearny, Ernestine (Bob) Lorona of Winkelman, Mary Lou (Santos) Garcia of Corpus Christi, Texas, Toni Ann (Gene) Aguirre of Kearny, Melissa (Ernie) Bracamonte of Chandler; her mother, Lily Camacho of Kearny; brothers, Eusebio Camacho and Ramon Camacho of Kearny, and Ricardo Camacho of Phoenix; sisters, Flora Zamora of Kearny, Rita Vizzerra of Phoenix, and Linda Urtuzuastegui of Scottsdale; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Rachel was preceded in death by her infant son, John Maes, and her father, Ramon Camacho.

The visitation and Rosary were held Tuesday morning, May 11, at Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic Church in Kearny, followed by Father James Aboyi celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery in Superior.

The family was assisted by Griffith Mortuary.
