Note 2: The famous outlaw, Jesse James, once hid out in her parents' smokehouse. They lived close to Piedmont, Missouri at the time. There were several holes in the smokehouse where Jesse had been fired upon. Jesse James eluded scores of law enforcement that came from several counties; he had once again escaped their capture. (Story by her daughter, Georgia).

Note 3: Pearl was known for her homemade cures and remedies. She could take warts off, and she had a written cure for Bright's disease that was kept by the family.
