Funeral services for Robert L. Josephsen, 71, of Exira will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday at the Kessler's Exira funeral home, with Dr. Emanuel Tabelisma officiating. Interment will be in Exira Cemetery. Mr. Josephsen died May 5 at the Des Moines General Hospital in Des Moines, the son of Carl W. and Martha Peterson Josephson, he was born near Hopewell in Clarke County on February 28, 1921 and attended rural school near Hopewell. The family moved to Audubon Township when he was a boy and he completed his education at Audubon Township no. 5 school. He helped operate the family farm. His marriage to Letha Mae Saxton took place at the Methodist parsonage in Atlantic on October 23, 1943. He was engaged in raising cattle and hogs and growing grain on the family farm. Surviving are his wife; his children and their spouses: Shirley and Jerry Karns of Audubon, Dan and Marilyn Josephsen of St. Charles, Illinois; his son-in-law and his wife, Vince and Barbara Peluso of Pottstown, Pennsylvania and their child Michael Peluso. Also surviving are his grandchildren Susan and Darren Dunn of Des Moines, Scott Carnes of Urbandale, Kevin Karns of Waterloo, Jeremy and Julie Karns of Audubon, Justin and Brandon Josephsen of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Kari, Jared, Lisa and Jordan Josephsen, all of St. Charles and Teresa Peluso of Pottstown. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren Sydnie Dunn of Des Moines, Adam Karns of Ankeny and Brooke Karns of Waterloo; a sister in law, Helga Josephsen of Adair; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two children, Sally Peluso and Leland Josephsen; a granddaughter, Jessica Peluso; his parents and a brother Richard Josephsen. Honorary casket bearers will be all of his grandchildren. Casket bearers will be Scout and Kevin Karns, Justin and Alan Josephsen, Randy Smith and Matt Hackwell. The family will meet friends at 7 P.M. Friday at the funeral home in Exira.
