Mary Wade Dardis was born in 1782 in Ireland, probably in Columbkille, Swords, old County Dublin (now County Fingal). She married John Dardis, Sr., and they had two sons, John Dardis, Jr. and Andrew Dardis. Fleeing the Potato Famine, the family settled in Madison County, New York where John, Sr. was a tanner by profession. Mary died at age 73 in 1855 in Madison County and is buried in Saint James Catholic Church in Cazenovia in Madison County.
