James Davis100 (1736 – 1805)
Probated May 1805 - Randolph County, N.C.
Book 3, page 18: To my loving wife during her widowhood, 80 acres including the
plantation adjoining the old ...... to the west of the tract for her support and my daughter
Hannah and all personal property except the stud horse which I desire may be sold and equally
divided between my wife and three daughters. And my will is that at the death of my loving
wife, both land and valuables be the property of my daughter Hannah. I give unto my sons
Jesse, Amos, and Job the remainder of my land to be equally divided between them. Thirty
pounds each to my daughters, Rebecca, Eve and Hannah.
Exrs.: Samuel Millikan, Robert McCracken, Wit.: Elijah ....., Jacob Jackson, William
Thornbury.
Patience was the daughter of Robert Miller & Ruth Haines. She married first, about 1748, to Charles Bishop, son of Samuel & Alice Bishop; 1 daughter: Ruth. Patience married second, on 5, 30, 1754 in Chester County, PA, to James Davis (1735-1805), son of Abraham Davis (FAG#96620964) & Susanna Bishop (FAG#96620579); 7 children: Jesse, Amos, Job, Rachel, Rebekah, Eve, and Hannah.

Thus, by Patience' two marriages, she was first a sister-in-law and then a daughter-in-law of Susanna (Bishop) Davis. Patience was buried beside her second husband. James & Patience were buried near their home on their own farm. In 1969, several of their descendants feared the gravestone would be lost to the farmer's plow, and they moved it to Marlboro Friends Meeting cemetery.
