Fred Mutter, 89, of Bluefield, VA, died June 8 at the home of his daughter in Bluefield, VA.
Born in Russell County, he was a son of the late Charlie and Mary Barnett Mutter, both Russell County natives. He had been a resident of the Belfast and Richlands areas most of his life and was a retired employee of Dixie Grocery Company in Richlands.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Browning Mutter; one son, Fred Herbert Mutter; one grandson, Michael Paul Mutter; and several sisters and brothers.
Survivors: daughter, Mrs. John (Ida Buttons) McGlothlin of Bluefield, VA; sisters, Carrie Denny of Cedar Bluff, Edith Warner of Rt. 2, Cedar Bluff, Della Maude Hawkins of South Boston; brother, Spencer Mutter of Richlands; and three grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted June 11 at 11 a.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with Rev. Bernard Sharder officiating.
Interment followed in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill.
