She was born November 30, 1913 in Saint Catherine's, Ontario, the daughter of the late Matthew J. and Elvera (Hendrickson) Burns. As a young girl, Vera moved to Albany where she graduated from Vincentian Institute and attended Albany State College. In 1933, she married Harold F. Hinman who predeceased her in 1981. Vera will be remembered by family and friends as an avid tennis enthusiast who could be seen on local tennis courts until age 85. She especially loved her summer home in Bolton where she enjoyed many hours at Huddle Beach with friends and family; she could be seen swimming in her favorite lake from May through October. She also loved traveling in the United States and Europe with her husband Harold.
Her son, Tony Hinman and his wife Thomasina of Delmar, daughter, Joyce Butterfield and her husband Whitney of South Glens Falls and son-in-law, John Cullinan of Delmar survive her. Her daughter, Debbie Hinman Cullinan, predeceased her on February 4, 2004. Vera will be missed by her grandchildren, Christopher and wife Stacey Butterfield, Stephen and wife Kathryn Butterfield, David and wife Sharon Butterfield, Andrea and husband James Hanover, Sarah Hinman , David Hinman and Lydia Cullinan. She also leaves nine great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Connie Cheeseman; and Ann Donohue, a dear childhood friend.
