W. Clark Allen Obituary
W.C. "Kitten" Allen, 66, native and lifetime resident of Washington county, died at Blair hospital early Friday after an illness of several weeks. He was a former farmer and well-known stockman.

His wife is the operator of Blair hospital.

Mr. Allen had been confined to St. Catherine's hospital in Omaha for some time, where he had undergone surgery, and was brought to Blair hospital only the evening before his death.

Funeral services, with the Bendorf Funeral Home in charge of arrangements, were held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Borgia Catholic church, the Rev. Thomas Carmody officiating. Interment followed in Holy Cross cemetery here. Pallbearers were six nephews of Mr. Allen: Rollo M. Allen, William Steavenson, Pierce Allen, MacPherson Allen, Will Allen and John Allen, the latter two of Benson.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Allen, who had come to a homestead on what is now known as Sunnyside Farm, about six miles west of Fort Calhoun in 1856, he was born there Nov. 4, 1879. Showing an interest in livestock, especially horses, Mr. Allen was a horse fancier all his life.

Mr. Allen and Edna Claire Palmer, daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. E.A. Palmer, were married July 30, 1902. To them was born one son, Palmer Allen. Following her death, Mr. Allen was married Nov. 26, 1934, to Mary Claire Miller, a graduate of the Chicago Lying-In School of Nursing and a postgraduate of the Kahler School of Nursing at Mayo Foundation, Rochester, Minn. To the couple were born two sons.
