Funeral services for Mrs. Lizzie Ethel Lay, 86, of Edina, were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 22, in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel at Edina. Dr. Dale Jorgenson, of Kirksville officiated. Burial was in the Linville cemetery at Edina.
Pallbearers were Damond Browning, Raymond Wolter, C. J. Latimer, Frank Krueger, William Queen and Raymond Klocke.
Mrs. Lay died at 11:48 a.m. on Thursday, April 19, in Prairie View nursing home at Lewistown, where she had been a resident since July 23, 1971.
She was born Feb. 9, 1987, in Adair county, the daughter of James and Sarah Mikel Bailey. She was married to Thomas A. Lay on March 12, 1905, at Sublette. He died March 26, 1951. The Lays moved from Adair county to Knox county in 1919. Mrs. Lay was well known as a seamstress in the Edina vicinity.
Surviving are two sons, Audrey Lay of Baring and Frank Lay of Edina; two daughters, Mrs. James (Hazel) Nitschky of Bay City, Mich., and Mrs. Gilbert (Lucille) Parrish, of Knox City; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ladle Bailey of Palisade, Neb., and one sister, Mrs. Iva Toney of Glenwood.
Also preceding her in death were ten brothers and sisters, and two grandsons.
